If you want to make a little more out of your trip to Kjerag and the Kjerag bolt, then book an overnight stay at Langavatn before or after you go there. The cottage is a three hour walk from the tourist attraction.
The cabin is located by Langavatnet in the Frafjordheiane landscape conservation area with a great view down the valley towards Rundavatnet. One of the old roads from Sirdal-Hunnedalen followed this valley to Lysebotn. From the cabin it is relatively easy to get up on the high mountain plateau on both sides of the valley.
A popular day trip from Langavatn is to take the trip out to the Kjerag plateau (3 hours each way).
Membership cards in STF are valid as fishing licenses in Langavatn, Tjodan and Akslaråtjørn. If you are lucky, you might catch a mountain trout. Non-members must buy a fishing license.
The cabin is equipped with what you need for cooking and overnight stays: kitchen utensils, crockery, basic bedding and food supplies. There is however no electricity, but gas, firewood and candles. The guests organise their own cooking, water collection, washing up, cleaning the floor, and otherwise cleaning the cabin inside and out. Sheet sleeping bags or separate bedding (sheet, duvet cover and pillowcase) must be used in the beds.
