Flørlistølen

Flørlistølen is beautifully located in the middle of a beautiful forest area, above Lysefjorden, where there are good opportunities for berry picking. If you are lucky, you can also see moose at sunset! The cabin is on the long-distance walking route “Lysefjorden Rundt”, and is therefore a great stop on the way if you are exploring Lysefjorden. The area around the cabin is also ideal if you’d like to spend the night in a hammock.

Flørlistølen is a kilometer’s walk up from Flørli quay. The road ascends in steep terrain, alongside an old “navvy road”. You can also choose to walk the Flørli steps (all 4444 of them) to get to the cabin. At the top of the steps you will have climbed 740 meters. To get to Flørlistølen you can either take a longer round trip of about 3 hours or take a shorter route of about 45 minutes along the old “navvy road”, Rallarstien. You can find the Rallarstien by going to the right over the dam and following the cairns.

The cabin is simply equipped for cooking and overnight stays. You will find kitchen utensils, crockery and basic bedding. There is however no food supplies at this cabin. There is no electricity, but gas for cooking, wood for the wood-burning stove, and candles. Visitors are responsible for cooking, water collection, washing up, cleaning the floor and ensuring that the cabin is tidy inside and out before leaving. Sheet sleeping bags or sleeping bags should be used in the beds. It is important that you take all rubbish with you when you leave the cabin. This can be thrown in the rubbish container on the quayside at Flørli. Although the cabin is simply equipped and old, it was upgraded in 2018 with new windows, mattresses, duvets, furniture and wood-burning stove.
