Byrkjedalstunet is so much more than a hotel. The traditional food, history and the authentic, Norwegian experience defines this beautiful place in the mountains. Surrounded by astounding nature, this is a lovely place to enjoy Norwegian traditions at their best. We take pride in getting all the details right. No wonder an American guest once exclaimed enthusiastically: “this place is just like a miniature Norway”. Byrkjedalstunet also has its own candle factory where the kids can make their own candles, in the middle of a large interior store.

Hotel

Every room is unique. At Byrkjedalstunet Hotel the Norwegian culture and history is in focus. The comfort of the rooms is top modern, allthough the buldings look like they could be from a Norwegian folk tale. The interior design in some of the rooms is like a journey back in time. Sleep in houses with grassy ceilings. Wake up to birds singing and the calming sound of the brook.
Byrkjedalstunet Hotel has 31 beds, divided into single, double and family rooms. We can accommodate 64 guests in total. No room are alike, each one has their own distinctive character. All rooms have well-equipped, tiled bathrooms and duves with real goose down.

Restaurant

The restaurant was originally an Irony and is consistently decorated with ancient artifacts and antiques from iron mills and private homes from the mid 1800s. In the homely and intimate atmosphere we create a cultural experience of both culinary and visual character.

Interior Shop

In addition to our home made quality candles, this vast shop is stocked with attractive interior details, souvenirs, handcrafted wood, wool designs, sheepskin and leather goods, stones, minerals, local arts & crafts, small scale providers of local preservatives, honey, spices and other delicacies.
