Fantahola

Fantahola, also known as Vagabond Cove, is a hidden treasure in Lysefjorden with a captivating history dating back to a time when vagabonds and other travelers sought refuge here to avoid capture by the authorities. Although the term “vagabond” now carries negative connotations, the name Fantahola has endured for generations.Â
While the cove may be challenging to locate from the sea, it is now a must-see attraction for tourists visiting Lysefjorden. If you travel through Lysefjorden and remain on the left side of the fjord, you’ll see a fissure in the mountain that serves as the entrance to the cove. Nestled beautifully in a small bay and surrounded by steep mountains, visitors can revel in magnificent scenery and feel transported to another era. Although the entrance is narrow, it is wide enough for smaller boats to pass through. As tourist boats sail into the cove, they play rousing national songs to enhance the atmosphere.

Fantahola is not just a lovely place to experience nature; it’s also a nesting ground for numerous bird species, including kestrels, peregrine falcons, eagles, and herons.
The new path from The Bolder to Preikestolen BaseCamp runs by the top of Fantahola. Here, you may catch a glimpse of boats sailing into the cove and wave to the tourists gazing upward and taking photographs.
