In 1898, timber merchant Gabriel Block Watne separated 17 acres of land from his parents' farm in Vatne and built what is today Kronen Gaard Hotell. Back then, the family spent their summers in Vatne, a place that soon became known for good food and vibrant gatherings. This tradition has been carefully upheld by Kronen Gaard Hotell, which today continues to be a favored venue for celebrations and social gatherings.
Kronen Gaard's food philosophy is that honesty lasts the longest. They serve genuine and honest food made from local ingredients. Guests have the opportunity to admire the culinary process and take in the delicious aromas wafting from the hotel’s open kitchen.
