Ramnstokunuten is a rising star in the region! The new hiking icon in Dirdal is conveniently located along the drive between Stavanger and Kjerag, and well worth a visit. The short but incredibly steep roundtrip offers fantastic views on the H\u00f8gfjord and Frafjord.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ramnstoknuten is located at the “junction” between the H\u00f8gsfjord and Frafjord. Despite its unique location and stunning views, the hike has been relatively unknown, until recently. Traditionally, visitors hiked to Ramnstoknuten from Giljast\u00f8len, which is a fairly long and demanding excursion. Locals have now upgraded the incredibly steep trail from Dirdal, so that is now possible to hike straight up.<\/p>\n

The trailhead is located at Dirdal marina. From the harbor, follow the river a short distance to a bridge. At the side of the river, hikers have two options. You can either go to the left and hike up “Mulen” (closest to the fjord) or go straight up through “Skaret” (saddle<\/em> in English). If you want a roundtrip, it is recommended to hike Mulen up and Skaret down. The trail up Mulen is airy and demanding, and a few hundred meters longer.<\/p>\n

The trails are well signposted and marked. Although this is a short hike, it is very steep. In 2 km, you will gain 600 meters of elevation! The views thus come quickly. If you are lucky enough to hike in nice weather, you will be rewarded with fantastic views on the H\u00f8gsfjord and Frafjord.<\/p>\n

Due to steep terrain, it takes almost the same time to hike down as up. It is recommended to go down Skaret, regardless of whether you have chosen the roundtrip or not.<\/p>\n
