Fra Lysebotn til \u00d8ygardst\u00f8l (utgangspunktet for fjellturen til Kjerag) er det bare 7,5 kilometer. Men syklister m\u00e5 forsere hele 640 h\u00f8ydemeter, fordelt over svimlende 27 h\u00e5rn\u00e5lssvinger. \u00c9n av svingene ligger halvveis i en 1000 meter lang tunnel. Stigningen tar ikke slutt etter svingene. Lysevegen over til Sirdal har sitt h\u00f8yeste punkt 932 meter over havet. Veien er small, svingete og med mange bakker, gjennom et m\u00e5nelignende bart landskap. Veien g\u00e5r gjennom Setesdal Vesthei Ryfylkeheiane landskapsvernomr\u00e5de, f\u00f8r den svinger ned til vakre
